Have a Healthy Halloween

Looking forward to Halloween but don’t want to overindulge on sweets? I’ve put together some healthier options for your children to enjoy or for you to try in your early years setting or school. They are easy to make and look great so you can still have a Spooktacular time!

Easy Peeler Pumpkins

These are very easy to make. Choose some easy peelers such as satsumas, clementines or tangerines. Remove the peel and as much pith as you can. Cut a small piece of celery and insert it inside the middle. Cut the sides off to make sure it fits.

These are great for young children to make and are fantastic for those little ones a bit nervous of Halloween.

Boonanas

Boonanas

Peel a banana and cut it at the base so the banana can stand up. Press on raisins and sultanas to make a spooky face.

Spooky Spaghetti

Spooky Spaghetti

Boil spaghetti, draining well and put it on the plate. Then add 2 blobs of bolognese sauce. You could use homemade tomato sauce too. Once cool, add 2 round blobs of soft cheese and top it with an olive cut in half on each eye. To make your spaghetti even healthier you could use wholewheat spaghetti.

Devilled Eggs topped with Spiders

Devilled Eggs

Hard boil 4 eggs and cut in half when cool. Scoop out the yolks and mix with a small amount of mayonnaise. Spoon back into the egg. Halve an olive for the spider’s body and cut small pieces of olive for the legs. Place along the body to look like legs.

I hope you enjoy making and eating my Halloween recipes and you have a truly Fangtastic time!
